Ethnographic Museum
This is also called The National Rwanda Museum. It is located in Butare. It was built with help of the Belgian government. It first opened in 1989 and it is a good source of information on the cultural history of the country and the region. . While the building itself is certainly one of the most beautiful structures in the city, the museum wins top marks for having one of the best ethnological and archaeological collections in the entire region.
These materials include maps, photos, art objects and artifacts documenting hunting, fishing, basketry, pottery, textiles, woodcarving and metallurgy. The ambience of the exhibits, which range from fossil footprints to trance-inspired Twa rock paintings, lends a unique atmosphere to performances and other events held in the Museum. Ethnographic museum is one of the Rwanda Museums with different halls performing different activities like museum shop, display hall and items used in Agriculture.
Rwanda Museum of Natural History.
Rwanda Museum of Natural History is also called Kandt House . Kandt House was a former home of German resident Richard Kandt on the Nyarugenge Hill in Kigali city, which now was turned into Natural History Museum since 2006. The museum strives to show the evolution of life, description of Flora and Fauna of Rwandan Natural Parks (Nyungwe, Akagera and Volcanoes), geological background of Rwanda.
Rwanda Museum of Natural History is one of the Rwanda Museums that explores ancient fossils, glittering gold, stunning artifacts, deadly mushrooms, frogs and snakes. The Museum is also the best view of three mountains (Mt Kigali, Mt Jali and Mt Shyorongi) and best view of old kigali city. Richard Kandt tried to explain interdependence between plants and animals.
Kings Palace Museum.
Kings Palace Museum is also known as Nyanza Royal Palace. King’s Palace Rwanda Museum is found in Nyanza and focuses more about royal residences. Kings Palace Museum traces the Rwandese culture and visitors can enjoy Rwandan traditional dances and many more cultural activities. Rwesero Arts Museum.
Its commonly known as National Art Gallery. The Rwandan Museum is located at the top of the Rwesero hill in Nyanza. The museum was originally built as a Palace for King Mutara III Rudahingwa but he passed away before occupying it.The idea to transform the building into an art museum came from suggestions left by visitors, while other suggestions came from local visual artists In all, there are 127 artworks produced by 51 different artists on display on the museum walls. The pieces range from sculptures, paintings, to mixed media, ceramics and art work.

Presidential Palace Museum
This Rwandan Museum was commonly known as Kanombe. Presidential Palace Museum is the former presidential house which exhibits on Rwandan history & debris from a noted plane crash. This museum can be visited any day of the week. It is open seven days a week. Visits start from 9 am to 5 pm except on Umuganda day where its opened at 11am. This former presidential palace on the eastern outskirts of the city has few exhibits, but it’s interesting to explore, with ‘secret’ rooms and an odd presidential nightclub. You will be able to see the wreckage from Juvenal Habyarimana’s presidential plane, can still be where it was shot down – just over his garden wall.
