4 DAY REMARKABLE RWANDA & CHIMPANZEE TREK TOUR
DAY 1: KIGALI GENOCIDE MEMORIAL AND HOTEL TRANSFER UPON ARRIVAL
Regards from Rwanda. For your unforgettable 4-day Rwanda Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trek vacation. Your knowledgeable English-speaking driver-guide will meet you at the arrivals exit of the Kigali International Airport and transfer you to your hotel for a briefing about your itinerary and our beautiful country Rwanda before you check in, a freshen up lunch, and later we’ll visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
Kigali Genocide Memorial
This memorial is incredibly heartbreaking, difficult to grasp, instructive, and ultimately inspirational. It’s also an excellent site to learn about the horror of the genocide and how it was successfully rebuilt.
These memorials are designed to enlighten, educate, and help prevent another catastrophe like this one from ever happening again. The healing and rebuilding have been extraordinary.
When you discover that more than 250,000 people are interred on the memorial’s grounds, the visit becomes incredibly gloomy and humbling. You will undoubtedly experience all of your emotions during this stay.
The most frequent thought that crosses your mind is “would I be able to forgive to that extent if I found myself in this circumstance.” That truly inspires me.
You will be driven to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay after this activity at ONOMO HOTEL.
DAY 2: Transfer to the Historical Museum in Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, your driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel at the predetermined hour. Before leaving on a two-hour trip to Nyanza/Butare, the traditional power and cultural center of Rwanda, he will provide an overview of the day there.
The King’s Palace is the first stop and provides a thorough overview of the Rwandan monarchy’s historical seat of power. It is a stunning recreation created entirely of authentic materials, restored to its 19th-century condition. At this really interesting website, you can learn a lot of knowledge, skills, and cultural peculiarities.
DAY3: VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK TRANSFER AND CHIMAPANZEE TREK
Get up early (6 am) to leave for an interesting trek with chimpanzees. In the morning, we prepare breakfast and a lunchbox, check out of your lodge, and move on to our planned activity for the day. We arrive at the start of the Chimpanzee Trek at the Nyungwe Forest National Park by 7 am in time for the briefing.
This is our closest living relative in the animal kingdom, sharing 93% of our DNA with the Congo’s bonobo. Finding the chimpanzees may require many hours of hiking, but once you do, the troop is quite large and typically more active than mountain gorillas. You’ll probably recognize some of the actions and personalities.
DAY 4: TRAVEL TO KIGALI AND A MOUNTAIN GORILLA TREK.
Today is a special and unusual opportunity for you to trek and get up close to a mountain gorilla. There are just about 1000 of these amazing creatures left in existence, with Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park housing about 1/3 of them.
After breakfast, you will be driven to the park headquarters where you will be briefed on the trek and gorilla behavior before being divided into groups based on your level of fitness. Depending on the gorillas’ movements, the walk may take two to six hours.
In order to find the gorillas, the rangers will take you far into the forest. After navigating the difficult terrain, you will eventually come upon these peaceful creatures, who will perform for you for around an hour. It’s frequently referred to as one of the greatest natural animal encounters in history.
After the trek, we return to your lodging so you can rest up, eat lunch, and then we bring you to Kigali so you can catch your flight home. After checking in, you’ll be taken to one of Kigali’s top restaurants for supper before being driven to the airport.
